News from our last meeting

Region 7 held a meeting on Tuesday 3rd November in Oriel House Hotel, Ballincollig. We began with a welcome dinner for our new members at 5.45 followed by our meeting at 7.30. The welcome dinner was a very enjoyable gathering where newly appointed Principals and Deputies got to meet each other.

This was followed by our Region 7 meeting where our new Chairperson Tadhg Long welcomed over forty Principals and Deputies to our first meeting since his election at the AGM.

We had two excellent speakers on the night. First we heard from Liam Aherne on the proposed model re the the allocation of resource hours. He talked us through the information as outlined on the NCSE website and reminded us of the need for Principals, SEN coordinators and Boards of Management to all be on the same page when it comes to the allocation of resource hours under the new model.

Following that we had a presentation from Peter O'Rourke on the service he provides in terms of statistical analysis of State Examination Results. Peter showed us how he can take the raw data and process it to give us more information about school performance. Peter has done great work with Region 7 schools and comes highly recommended.

The meeting ended with tea and coffee and a chance for members to catch up with news from the region.

We look forward to our next meeting - our Christmas dinner in Hayfield Manor on Wednesday 16th December at 2.30. Save the date!!!!!!
